Therapy
Operative treatment must, first of all, take into account the primary, i.e. supporting function of the foot. The cosmetic effect is important; however, the foot function should improve as well. This is why foot surgeries should be performed by a highly experienced orthopedist.
Operative treatment must involve complex correction of a few elements. In the early stages of deformation, only operative treatment of soft tissues is possible. What is often necessary is, however, osteotomy, i.e. correction of the axis of the bone.
The operational method should match each case individually and should be chosen after very careful consideration.
Operations performed by me considerably reduce the period of patient's immobility. Usually, I do not use plaster casts but elastic bands stabilizing aMP I joint with the metatarsus (Fig). I allow loading of the operated limbs after a few days thanks to modern surgical techniques and using proper implants.
For inner stabilization I use implants from the New Deal company, which specializes in producing instrumentarium and implants used in foot surgery. A patient may use orthopedic footwear right after surgery. I often perform SURGERIES on both feet at the same time.
